Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Glen Child.

Music is a fundamental form of expression, both personal and cultural. Areas that are covered include Music history, composition, technology and performance.  You will learn to perform student’s own music and that of others in both solo and group situations; compose and orchestrate music; aurally recognise melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, texture, structure and style in recorded examples; develop accurate and perceptive listening skills, develop a sound understanding of harmony and tonality.

Students also need to have instrumental or voice lessons at school or with a private teacher outside of school.

ALL Year 10 to Year 13 Music students are required to be taking instrumental and/or voice lessons either at school or with a private teacher outside of school.

Recommended Prior Learning

Level 1 Music is desirable, but not essential. Students should be performing at a level consistent with four years of studying a chosen musical instrument. Voice is counted as an instrument.
