Level 1 Mathematics 2025

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Lara Bramsen.

Mathematics is a compulsory subject in Level One

You must select either Level 1 Mathematics or Level 1 Mathematics with Statistics

Students are required to achieve the NCEA Numeracy co-requisite in order to be awarded their Level 1 NCEA Certificate.  This may have been achieved in 2024.

The Mathematics course in Year 11 focuses on extending and developing the mathematical experiences of the five areas of the New Zealand Curriculum for each student. It is designed for students who would like to proceed through to Level 3 Calculus and/or Level 3 Statistics.  It builds on the current knowledge of: Algebra; Measurement; Space; Statistics and Probability and prepares them for continuing on with either the algebraic or statistical courses in Levels 2 and 3.

Use of appropriate technology is expected, where appropriate, especially for the Statistics standard.  A Graphics calculator is compulsory for all students taking this course.

This course leads to Level 2 Mathematics (L2MAT) and/or Level 2 Mathematics with Statistics (L2MAS).

FOR YEAR 11 (LEVEL 1) STUDENTS - 2025:
