Course Description

The Commerce course enables students to gain knowledge of the three disciplines of Commerce - Accounting; Business and Economics and how these interact with each other. This course provides students with a great opportunity to experience Commerce first hand as well as gain business and financial skills and knowledge. Topics covered include preparation of financial statements for a sole-proprietor business, analysing financial and non-financial information for decision making, marketing (with focus on pricing decisions), consumer behaviour and demand, financial interdependance, as well as the opportunity to produce, market and sell a value-added product at a profit.

Students will be given the opportunity to sit literacy/numeracy co-requisites from Year 10.
NCEA Level 1 - following the completion of the first year of implementation of the reduced and revised standards, we will evaluate assessments for 2025.
