Level 1 French 2025

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Anna O'Farrell, Maurice Nelson.

Level 1 French focuses on using French in authentic contexts and developing the self-confidence of students to initiate and sustain conversation in French.  Exploring familiar topics helps to support this focus on spontaneous communication.  Topics include: your home; shopping; fashion; current events; school; friendships; health and wellbeing. Key grammatical concepts that allow students to move beyond immediate contexts are also encountered and support key language learning skills of reading, speaking, writing and listening.

FOR YEAR 11 (LEVEL 1) STUDENTS - 2025:

Students will be given the opportunity to sit literacy/numeracy co-requisites from Year 10.

NCEA Level 1 - following the completion of the first year of implementation of the reduced and revised standards, we will evaluate assessments for 2025.

Recommended Prior Learning

Year 10 French, or at the discretion of the Head of Department for French

  • Some classes may be combined by Year level (e.g. Year 11 and 12 in one class) if numbers do not make separate classes viable
