This is a compulsory subject

Level One Religious Education allows students to explore key aspects of Catholic faith and practice.  The course provides a foundation for understanding religious perspectives and their impact on individuals and society.

Course Highlights

  • Biblical Study: delve into the stories and teachings of Jesus as presented in the Gospels
  • Historical Perspective: explore the history of the Sisters of Mercy in Aotearoa New Zealand, learning about their role in the community
  • Ethical Foundations: develop an understanding of Catholic ethics and teachings, providing a framework for moral decision-making
  • Comparative Religion: compare and contrast key aspects of Judaism and Catholicism, fostering religious literacy

This course encourages critical thinking, respsect for diverse beliefs and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

FOR YEAR 11 (LEVEL 1) STUDENTS - 2025:

Students will be given the opportunity to sit literacy/numeracy co-requisites from Year 10.

NCEA Level 1 - following the completion of the first year of implementation of the reduced and revised standards, we will evaluate assessments for 2025.
