Level 1 Digital Technology 2025
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Rowena Bullock.
This course focuses on developing basic knowledge and skills in the areas of Digital Media, Programming and DigitaldESIGN.
Digital Media: Students study Web Design and image manipulation with Photoshop. Students attend a full day training course web design. They create a website about emotions with original digital art using a wacom tablet.
Programming and Computational Thinking: Students learn the popular text based ‘Python’ programming language, and create a programme reflecting modern issues such as teenager’s lack of sleep or overuse of social media.
External (DCAT) Exam: Students sit an exam in November around the Computer Science topic of Human Computer Interaction.

Students will be given the opportunity to sit literacy/numeracy co-requisites from Year 10.
NCEA Level 1 - following the completion of the first year of implementation of the reduced and revised standards, we will evaluate assessments for 2025.
Recommended Prior Learning
Although it is helpful to have taken Year 10 Digital Technology, there is no required prior learning for this course
