Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Glen Child.

Music is a fundamental form of expression, both personal and cultural. Areas that are covered include composition, technology and performance.  You will learn to perform in solo and group situations; compose and arrange music; transcribe and notate music through listening; analyse music through harmonic and tonal means; listen perceptively; identify, describe, classify and compare varying styles of music; research a music topic and present the results.

ALL Year 10 to Year 13 Music students are required to be taking instrumental and/or voice lessons either at school or with a private teacher outside of school.

Recommended Prior Learning

Level 2 Music is desirable, but not essential. Students should be performing at a level consistent with five years of studying a chosen musical instrument. Voice is counted as an instrument.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students also need to have instrumental or voice lessons at school or with a private teacher outside of school.
